Do You Believe the Truth

Scroll II of II

It seems incomprehensible to the human mind: but free will and predestination exist simultaneously. We are predestined because God knows “the end from the beginning.” But we still must make choices: because we do not know our destiny. The choices we make become our destiny.

Remember the former things of old: for I am God: and there is none else; I am God: and there is none like me: Declaring the end from the beginning: and from ancient times the things that are not yet done: saying: My counsel shall stand: and I will do all my pleasure:
Isaiah 46:9-10

While we may be destined for salvation: others are destined for destruction.

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I: if I be Lifted up from the earth: will draw all men unto me. This he said: signifying what death he should die. The people answered him: We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou: The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man? Then Jesus said unto them. Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light: lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light: believe in the light: that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus: and departed: and did hide himself from them. But though he had done so many miracles before them: yet they believed not on him: That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled: which he spake: Lord: who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not believe because that Esaias said again: He hath blinded their eyes: and hardened their heart: that they should not see with their eves: nor understand with their heart: and be converted: and I should heal them. These things said Esaias: when he saw his glory: and spake of him. Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him: lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. John 12:31-43

You are being called; otherwise: you would not be reading this now. Whether or not you are chosen will be determined by what you do with the rest of your life. If you have believed the truth: will you hold on to it until the end?

And he spake many things unto them in parables: saying: Behold: a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed: some seeds fell by the way side: and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places: where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up: because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up: they were scorched; and because they had no root: they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up: and choked them: But other fell into good ground: and brought forth fruit: some an hundredfold: some sixtyfold: some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear: let him hear. And the disciples came: and said unto him: Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them. Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven: but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath: to him shall be given: and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not: from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not: neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias: which saith: By hearing ye shall hear: and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see: and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross: and their ears are dull of hearing: and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes: and hear with their ears: and should understand with their heart: and should be converted: and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes: for they see: and your ears: for they hear. For verily I say unto you: That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see: and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear: and have not heard them. Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom: and understandeth it not: then cometh the wicked one: and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. But he that received the seed into stony places: the same is he that heareth the word: and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word: by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world: and the deceitfulness of riches: choke the word: and he becometh unfruitful. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word: and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit: and bringeth forth: some an hundredfold: some sixty: some thirty. Matthew 13:3-23

You have heard “the word of the kingdom.” How will you receive it? Do you simply not understand? Will you only endure for a while? Will your worldly cares and desires cause you to forget? Will you understand: grow: and become a fruitful Christian? Nothing in this world can take priority over your life as a Christian.

If any man come to me: and hate not his father: and mother: and wife: and children: and brethren: and sisters: yea: and his own life also [in comparison to your love for God]: he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross: and come after me: cannot be my disciple. For which of you: intending to build a tower: sitteth not down first: and counteth the cost: whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply: after he hath laid the foundation: and is not able to finish it: all that behold it begin to mock him: Saying: This man began to build: and was not able to finish. Luke 14:26-30

Count the cost. Do you have what it takes to be His disciple? Will you be able to finish the tower?

And it came to pass: that: as they went in the way: a certain man said unto him: Lord: I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him: Foxes have holes: and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And he said unto another: Follow me. But he said: Lord: suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him. Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said: Lord: I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell: which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him: No man: having put his hand to the plough: and looking back: is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:57-62

If you are being called: you are a member of the church. Church is not a place. The word church simply means called out ones. We do not go to church; we take it with us wherever we go. It is unfortunate that we have come to refer to the gathering of the church as “going to church.” There is no special type of Christian; there is no rank to which we can attain. Christian: disciple: and saint are interchangeably synonymous.

Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus: for to seek Saul: And when he had found him: he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass: that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church: and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Acts 11:25-26

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you: are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not the ye shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? I Corinthians 6:2-3

Our God is a gracious God. He will continue to be patient with us until the day we die. As long as we are honest with ourselves and with Him and as long as we continue to grow in faith and knowledge: He will forgive us. Apostle Peter tells us:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature: having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this: giving all diligence: add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you: and abound: they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. II Peter 1:4-8

What are some of these “exceeding great and precious promises?” We have already read one of these — that we would judge the world and angels in the judgment. Some of the other promises which He has given us are: to be born again in the likeness of Christ: eternal life in the world to come: the meek will inherit the earth: a mansion in the house of God: and to become the children of God. Jesus admonished the church in chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation and made seven promises.

He that hath an ear: let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life: which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Revelation 2:7

He that hath an ear: let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. Revelation 2:11

He that hath an ear: let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna: and will give him a white stone: and in the stone a new name written: which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. Revelation 2:17

And he that overcometh: and keepeth my works unto the end: to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear: let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 2:26-29

He that overcometh: the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life: but I will confess his name before my Father: and before his angels. He that hath an ear: let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 3:5-6

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God: and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God: and the name of the city of my God: which is new Jerusalem: which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. He that hath an ear: let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 3:12-13

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne: even as I also overcame: and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear: let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 3:21-22

These are they which came out of great tribulation: and have washed their robes: and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God: and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more: neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them: nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them: and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Revelation 7:14-17

There are many promises to be found throughout the Bible; some of them very forthright: some of them quite ambiguous. The ambiguousness of the Bible is what leads to interpretation. People say that everyone has their own interpretation of what the Bible says. This is not true! We should never interpret the Bible. Let the Bible say what it says. The Holy Spirit will give us understanding as we are able to accept it.

Knowing this first: that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. II Peter 1:20-21

Satan has had to alter his original lie: “ye shall not surely die.” It is apparent that people do die. Now the lie is that we do not really die: but that “the spirit you” lives on forever in some form.

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels: And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more m heaven. And the great dragon was cast out: that old serpent: called the Devil: and Satan. which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth: and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven: Now is come salvation: and strength: and the kingdom of our God: and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down: which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb: and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice: ye heavens: and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you: having great wrath: because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. Revelation 12:7-12

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil: and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God: and he will draw nigh to you… James 4:7-8

So what will you do with the rest of your life? The first thing you should do is to repent: which means to change your mind. Ask God for His Holy Spirit. Keep knocking: keep asking: and keep seeking. Jesus says in Matthew 6:31-34:

Therefore take no thought: saying: What shall we eat? or: What shall we drink? or Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God: and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
